Nudge Position Up ⌃⌥⌘↑ — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Nudge Position Up ⌃⌥⌘↑

Move the selected item up. I am not sure of the exact distance the symbol is moved, but it appears that it can be +/- 999 steps. Same increments for left and right. The symbol information is in the Event Inspector box.

The information in the symbol inspector includes Symbol (a number), Staff, Vertical Position, Horizontal Position.

Position items (graphically) in the Logic Pro Score Editor — Apple Support

Using key commands: You can use key commands to move any score symbol that can be positioned independently of notes or staffs, as well as text events and chord symbols. These functions don’t alter the bar position of the affected symbols and text events. They alter the Horizontal Position and Vertical Position parameters by ±1.

What Is Sidechain Compression? And How To Use It

What Is Sidechain Compression? And How To Use It

by Nick Messitte, iZotope Contributor August 20, 2021

In mixing, you may have come across a form of compression called “sidechain compression” and had no idea what it meant. What is it and why is it useful? In this piece, we’re going to define sidechain compression for you in simple terms. We’ll show you some common uses, and point you to some examples of sidechain compression in the wild, so you can train your ears to recognize sidechain compression in action.

This discussion points out the detection circuits for the compressor in Neutron. Recently posted about the detection circuit in Ozone 9 as well.

Good things to know.

Normalize Region/Cell Gain… ⌃⌥G — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Normalize Region/Cell Gain… ⌃⌥G

Adjust the gain of the selected region/cells. Like ‘Clip Gain’ but without a lot of visual feedback. It’s a lot easier to adjust if you can see the peak level meter for the region. In any event — I use this **all the time** to start mixes with a hope of getting decent gain staging.

Normalize audio regions in the Tracks area — Apple Support

You can normalize the gain of selected regions in the Tracks area, without opening the regions in the Audio Track Editor. The Normalize Region Gain menu command is non-destructive: the original file isn’t altered, so you can return it to its original state.

The detection filter is important to know about.

Dynamics — Ozone 9 Help Documentation

The Dynamics module can be used to shape the dynamics of your master, with up to four bands of analog-modeled compression, limiting, and expansion.

Detection Filter

Enable this view to adjust the frequency response of the detection circuit. When the Detection Filter is active, you can access the controls outlined in the table and image below. Detection filter processing is included in the Dynamics module and Vintage Compressor module
