Set Link View to Same Level — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Set Link View to Same Level

Show data (in the editor) that corresponds to the window with key focus. You can have multiple editor windows open. Not clear when I would want my editors to all show the same information, but that’s the default — content.

Same Level: When selected, the editor window always displays the same contents as the window with key focus, and updates whenever the window with key focus changes. For example, if the Score Editor has key focus, in Same Level Link mode, the Event List displays the same data as the Score Editor (numerically, of course).

Show/Hide EQ Thumbnails — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Displays an view of the EQ bands that are active - a quick reference to how the filters are applied
  Show/Hide EQ Thumbnails

Shows or hides the EQ thumbnail in the channel strips. It’s unfortunate that third-party EQ plugins can’t (or won’t) use the thumbnail. To be fair, the built-in “coloring” EQs don’t use the display either. The Channel EQ and Linear Phase EQ use the display.

The MCU (Logic Control) is an excellent companion to the channel EQs — the 8 controls map to the plugin. Eight bands, 4 controls per band. Quick work to EQ with knobs and dials. It is also kind of fun to FLIP the MCU and use the faders to adjust the filters.

Channel strip controls in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Each channel strip has a set of controls (also called components), which varies according to channel strip type. You can adjust the channel strip volume and pan position, mute and solo channel strips, add and adjust effects, and send the output to auxiliary or output channel strips.

Mapping Remix FX to Launchpad in Logic Pro — 9to5Mac

Mapping Remix FX to Launchpad in Logic Pro — 9to5Mac

Considering how simple it is to download Logic Remote for free and use your iPhone as a sort of always-on, heads-up display, solely for Remix FX, alongside your Launchpad, I’m still not sure any of this is worth the trouble anyway. As much as I would like to have this one, single Logic Pro controller instrument in front me that I can completely master, and ignore as much of everything else as possible, Launchpad’s touch-button toggles and faders just don’t seem to be able to keep up with Apple’s remote multi-touch screen control. I get it, with Logic Remote you can be flipping and waving your fingers across the iPad, automatically and simultaneously engaging and adjusting various FX with immersive touch and swipe movements. And it all just works immediately and always with no mapping needed.

Delete Orphaned Automation on Selected Tracks ⌃⇧⌫ — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Delete Orphaned Automation on Selected Tracks ⌃⇧⌫

Deletes orphaned automation from the selected tracks. As the documentation says, “automation can become orphaned when copied between tracks.”

Toggle Selected Track(s) or Channel Strip(s) Record Region Automation Mode — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Toggle Selected Track(s) or Channel Strip(s) Record Region Automation Mode

The “Record Region Automation Mode” switch is located in the automation pop-up menu for software instruments, and external MIDI instruments.

I am still not clear about recording automation into MIDI regions.

I am not the only one…

(5) Recording live region automation? — Logic Pro Help

I’m trying to record Expression (MIDI CC #11) using Logic’s automation record feature (tried both Touch and Latch), but no joy.

Capturing MIDI Controller Automation After Recording MIDI In Logic Pro | Logic Pro

When recording, you can record region-based automation data into MIDI regions on software instrument tracks even if tracks are in Read mode. The ability to remain in Read mode is a huge time-saving asset, freeing you from switching back and forth from automation mode.

When recording, you can record region-based automation data into MIDI regions on software instrument tracks even if the track is in Read mode. In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

Read: Plays back all automation that exists on the track. If volume data exists, for example, the Volume fader moves during playback, following the prerecorded automation on the track. You can’t change the value of the chosen automation parameter by moving controls when in Read mode. However, you can record region-based information directly into a MIDI region in Read mode.

If You Use Region Automation, This Is A Tip That Will Change The Way You Use It — YouTube

Region automation in Logic has been around for a while now. It’s excellent for automated parameter values that need to get moved with regions when copying/pasting/dragging them around the timeline. A problem arises, however, when some parts contain region automation, and others don’t. Does Logic chase the last used value? Or does it use the static default value set by you initially? Watch this video to learn how to control this critical behaviour that affects the playback of your mixes.

The region automation setting discussed in the YouTube video from Logic Pro Expert is a project-specific setting.
