Insert Section at Playhead (Global) ⌃⌘V — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

Insert Section at Playhead (Global) ⌃⌘V

Pastes the region on the clipboard into the current track. All tracks (regions) have time inserted.

Add or remove gaps in a Logic Pro arrangement — Apple Support

Sometimes you may want to remove an entire passage from a project—for example, you may want to remove the regions of all tracks between bars 17 and 20, so that all regions (and bar changes, tempo changes, and global score symbols) from bar 21 on are moved four bars to the left, closing the gap left by removing the four bars.

Recall Screenset 8x ⇧8 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Recall Screenset 8x ⇧8

Switch to screensets 80 through 89. I wondered about having 99 screensets available. I realized that a show or a film or even an album can have many, different sections. Using screensets is an interesting way to bookmark and preserve the state of a work.

You don’t need to save screensets with an explicit command. It happens automatically, as soon as you switch to another screenset. Thus, without any effort, your current working view is always stored as the current screenset.

Previous Screenset — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Previous Screenset

Switch to the previous screenset. Previous means “current screenset minus one”. Next screenset means “current screenset plus one”.

I would like to be able to jump back to the most recently used screenset, but that’s just me.

Note: Screensets 1 to 9 can be recalled by freely defined key commands, not only the number keys on your computer keyboard. This allows you to use the number keys for other purposes, such as opening or closing windows. The 1 to 9 key commands are called Recall Screenset 1–9 in the Key Commands window.

Paste Steps ⌥⇧V — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Paste Steps ⌥⇧V

Paste the steps (on the clipboard) onto the current row. The contextual menu for the row has the copy/paste commands in it, available when there is something to be pasted, dimmed if not.

I used Opcode Vision and Studio Vision back in the late 1980s. At some point I should re-visit step sequencing with the incredible array of instruments I now can carry in my tool bag.

Edit Step Sequencer steps in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You can copy a step, including all of its step settings. When you paste a copied step, the destination row should be of the same row type (note or automation) as the source row. All step settings are copied, with one exception: If the step rate was not edited for that individual step (that is, if it still uses the pattern or row step rate), the pasted step inherits the step rate of the step that it replaces.

Cycle Through Mixer Modes (Single, Tracks, All) ⇧X — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

Cycle Through Mixer Modes (Single, Tracks, All) ⇧X

Switches the mixer modes from the keyboard. I don’t think I have any real use for ‘All’ mode.

There are no separate commands for setting the Mixer mode to Single, Tracks, or All.

The GLOBAL VIEW button on the X-Touch is used to switch between ‘All’ and ‘Tracks’. Press OPTION+GLOBAL VIEW to switch to ‘Single’ mode.

Mackie Control Global View buttons in Logic Pro — Apple Support

The GLOBAL VIEW button is used in conjunction with the other eight GLOBAL VIEW buttons to display (and edit) specific types of channel strips. Pressing any of the buttons activates All View; when this view is active, the green LED to the right of the GLOBAL VIEW button is lit.

Logic Pro 9 Control Surfaces Support: Mackie Control: Global View Zone

When you press one of the buttons in the Global View zone, the corresponding type of channel strip appears in the main LCD. You can edit each channel strip with the corresponding channel strip controls. Pressing multiple buttons (Audio Tracks, Instruments, and Aux, for example) displays all channels of the selected types.

The version 9 and version 10 (prior to 10.5) Control Surfaces Support manuals have far better documentation and descriptions of the Mackie Control functions and uses.
