Use step input recording in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Step input allows you to insert MIDI notes when you’re not recording in real time. You can use step input to create note runs that may be too fast for you to play or to replicate sheet music that’s too difficult for you to play.

Set Nudge Value to Bar ⌃⌥M — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

Set Nudge Value to Bar ⌃⌥M

Sets the nudge value (the ‘distance’ the object will move) to a bar. I find nudging objects around to much easier and ‘safer’ using keyboard commands with proper values. That’s more convenient than moving the mouse to the toolbar and clicking the little arrow buttons.

Move regions in the Logic Pro Tracks area — Apple Support

Nudge regions by the nudge value
In Logic Pro, select the regions you want to move. Press and hold Option and press the Left or Right Arrow key.

I need to remember that there is a NUDGE button on the X-Touch. Pressing the NUDGE button arms the fast-forward and fast-rewind buttons to nudge forward and backward. Full and complete access to the nudge functions in the toolbar.

The NUDGE button allows you to move (nudge) selected audio or MIDI regions (or events) in Small, Large, or Temporary Nudge mode

Live Loops: Show Length as Position — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

Live Loops: Show Length as Position

Display the length of the selected cell as positions in bars and beats. A one bar cell has a length of 1 with cell start position of 1 1 and cell end position of 2 1.

I think learning how to translate Ableton Live commands and actions into Live Loops commands and actions might be a very good way to dive in to Live Loops…

Change loop settings for cells in Live Loops for Logic Pro — Apple Support

Cell Length appears as Cell End, Loop Length appears as Loop End, and both show a position value.

Pencil Tool P — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Pencil Tool P

Sets the current tool (left-click) to the Pencil Tool. Correctly entered the command is ‘T’ then ‘P’. The ‘T’ command pops up the tool menu, the ‘P’ command selects the Pencil Tool.

Common Logic Pro tools — Apple Support

Use the Pencil tool to add new regions or events. You can also select, drag, loop, and alter the length of regions or events using the Pencil tool. In the Score Editor, you can use the Pencil tool to add dynamic markings, accents, and other symbols to notes.
