1/64 Note 7 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  1/64 Note 7

Set the note value to a 1/64 note.

I don’t think that I have seen 1/64 notes scored for brass. Maybe some strings or percussion.

Use step input recording in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Step input allows you to insert MIDI notes when you’re not recording in real time. You can use step input to create note runs that may be too fast for you to play or to replicate sheet music that’s too difficult for you to play.

Name Tracks by Region/Cell Name ⌥⇧⌘N — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

Name Tracks by Region/Cell Name ⌥⇧⌘N

Set the name of the track to the name of the region/cell. Saves a lot of typing.

Change the name of a region using ⇧N

Name the track by the region using ⌥⇧⌘N

Name the region by the track using ⌥⇧N

I am very bad about properly naming tracks, which also leads to mediocre to bad region names. More work to do.

Rename tracks in a Logic Pro project — Apple Support

When you choose a patch for a track, the track takes the name of the patch. You can rename a track at any time.

Toggle Hide Group 13 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Toggle Hide Group 13

Show or hide channels/tracks that are members of group 13. Every time I read about groups I try to remind myself that they are extremely useful for setting up tracks and channels for a project, even if you can collapse the tracks into a stack, the grouping serves very useful purposes.

Groups inspector in Logic Pro — Apple Support

You use the Groups inspector to define the behavior of each Mixer group. The Groups inspector appears in the Track inspector when one or more groups have been created, and it can be opened as a floating window as well. It contains the following settings:

When you use an MCU as a control surface the GROUP button gives you access to group settings. You can change the settings for the first seven groups.

The newer settings — “Quantize-Locked (Audio)” and “Track Alternatives” are all the way at the end of the settings.

You can assign channels to groups using the MCU as well. Time for me to read the GROUP section of the Mackie Control chapter.

Mackie Control Group button in Logic Pro — Apple Support

Press the GROUP button to activate group edit mode that allows you to edit various Mixer group parameters.

Select Project 5 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day

  Select Project 5

Select the fifth project. There is no way to tell what the fifth project actually is. This is likely to be a hold over from early days of Logic going all the way back to “songs”. MainStage is the preferred tool for having multiple songs available for playback.

Studio One now has a “Live Performance” page built in (2020).

Generally speaking it is a bad idea to work with multiple projects open at once. Far too many problems with Logic can be traced to having multiple projects open at once. Caveat Emptor.

In my current test with multiple projects open at the same time the project number appears to be the position of the project in the Windows menu. Project 1 is the first project, project 5 is the fifth.
