Select Project 8 — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Select Project 8

Bring the main window for project 8 into focus. Having multiple projects open at the same time results in buggy behavior. It is difficult to know which project is actually project 8.

There is no documentation for selecting multiple projects in the Logic Pro (and Pro X) documentation.

Force Interpretation ⌃⇧I — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Force Interpretation ⌃⇧I

You can change notation to “look right” but force a desired interpretation.

One example is that if a note has the length of an eighth note, and the score shows an eighth note plus an eighth rest — forcing interpretation will change the note displayed as a quarter note, but continue to play it as an eighth note.

Change note syncopation and interpretation in the Logic Pro Score Editor — Apple Support

By default, note syncopation and interpretation match the settings chosen in the Region inspector. You can change interpretation settings for individual notes to improve readability.

Open Metronome Project Settings… — Logic Pro keyboard command of the day (KCotD)

  Open Metronome Project Settings…

Opens the Metronome Settings. I have never played with the metronome settings — I mostly do playback. It is kind of nice to be able to have the metronome be a MIDI device. It is also nice to be able to send the metronome to any of the stereo pairs available on your audio interface.

Metronome settings in Logic Pro — Apple Support

The Metronome project settings combine all parameters for speaker click, MIDI click, and Klopfgeist—a virtual metronome sound source. Klopfgeist can be used in addition to, or in place of, the speaker and MIDI click sources.

Klopfgeist is an instrument that provides a metronome click. It is inserted in instrument channel strip 256 by default and is used to generate the MIDI metronome click.

shows the Step Sequencer Edit Mode menu with the 11 possible modes
Set Global Edit Mode to Gate ⌃⌥G

Sets the edit mode for all of the rows. Just like selecting ‘Gate’ from the menu bar control.

I really need to re-think my idea of step sequencing. Programming a sequencer using visual tools sparks lots of ideas.

Gate: Drag vertically in the step to set the Gate value as a percentage of the step. The Gate value shortens the note length to less than the duration of the step.

The Edit Mode selector in the Step Sequencer menu bar controls the edit mode for all rows in the pattern. Step On/Off mode is always available on the left-side button on the selector. You can choose other edit modes from the menu on the right side of the selector. The chosen edit mode appears on the right-side button. Edit modes include the following:
