MIDI channel strips overview — Logic Pro X

MIDI channel strips in the Mixer work as remote controls for the mixing parameters of your MIDI-controlled sound modules and synthesizers, such as volume and pan.

Show/Hide Type and Number Label — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Show/Hide Type and Number Label

Display channel type and number in mixer windows. I don’t use this much at all. My typical track coloring and arrangement makes it clear what type of channel I am looking at. I do turn it on in the “Full Mixer” screenset for completeness.

I haven’t really found a use for knowing the actual number of a channel.

Select Instrument Channel Strips ⇧S — Logic Pro X keyboard command of the day

  Select Instrument Channel Strips ⇧S

In Mixer windows. Selects all of the instrument channels. Using the Mixer and channel strip commands to help organize a project makes some sense. Most of my work is mixing, so a lot of my time is spent in the mixer windows.

I spend a lot of time in the Arrange window trying to identify audio, and arrange the tracks for eventual inclusion in track stacks. I should try auditioning and identifying the audio in the Project Audio window, and make sure that I name the audio regions appropriately.

Definitely an exercise that I should work with.
