Cycle Through Mixer Modes (Single, Tracks, All)    ⇧X

Switches the mixer modes from the keyboard. I don’t think I have any real use for ‘All’ mode.

There are no separate commands for setting the Mixer mode to Single, Tracks, or All.

The GLOBAL VIEW button on the X-Touch is used to switch between ‘All’ and ‘Tracks’. Press OPTION+GLOBAL VIEW to switch to ‘Single’ mode.

Click the Single button to show the signal flow of the channel strip that corresponds to the selected track in the Tracks area.

Click the Tracks button to show the signal flow of all channel strips that correspond to tracks used in the Tracks area.

Click the All button to show the signal flow of all channel strips available in the project.

The GLOBAL VIEW button is used in conjunction with the other eight GLOBAL VIEW buttons to display (and edit) specific types of channel strips. Pressing any of the buttons activates All View; when this view is active, the green LED to the right of the GLOBAL VIEW button is lit.

When you press one of the buttons in the Global View zone, the corresponding type of channel strip appears in the main LCD. You can edit each channel strip with the corresponding channel strip controls. Pressing multiple buttons (Audio Tracks, Instruments, and Aux, for example) displays all channels of the selected types.

The version 9 and version 10 (prior to 10.5) Control Surfaces Support manuals have far better documentation and descriptions of the Mackie Control functions and uses.

  Clear pick finger

Removes the ‘pick finger’ notation on the score. There is a complete lack of information about pick fingers, other than the indicators P I M A C — the “names” of the fingers.

A large amount of assumed knowledge.

The Spanish Fingering System — dummies

In traditional guitar notation, the letters p, i, m, and a are used to refer to the fingers on the picking hand. Taken from the Spanish language, here’s what the letters represent:

  Assign To Exclusive Group: 4

Assigns the selected pad/button to exclusive group 4.

Exclusive Group: Choose a group for the pad. You can assign multiple pads to the same group. As soon as one drum sound in the group is triggered, all other sounds in that same group are stopped. For example, you could group three pads with open, semi-closed, and closed hi-hat sounds. Only one of these sounds can be played at a time, mirroring the behavior of real hi-hats.

I keep thinking that the Drum Machine Designer could help with “drum replacement” or “drum enhancement”l. A lot of experimentation needs to happen.

  Select Members of Group 33

Selects all of the tracks (channels) in group 33. Useful for focusing on a smaller number of tracks. I can visualize a need for lots of groups when working on a soundtrack or a score.

Prior to mixing, you may find it useful to define some logical channel strip groups. You could, for example, group all drum channel strips under one drum group. This would allow you to control the group meters (volume, pan, mute, solo, sends, and so on) using a single control, while still maintaining the relative parameter values of each channel strip.
