Select all of the notes (same pitch) following the currently selected note. Select all of the regions (on the same/focused track) following the currently selected region.

The selection of regions on a track can seem inconsistent if you aren’t sure what the setting of

I used to have it set to select all the regions when selecting a track. This turns out to not be what I normally want. I have mapped the toggle to be “Hyper Select”.

In Logic Pro, choose any of the following from the Tracks area Edit menu:

  Repeat Regions/Events Multiple Times…

Make multiple copies (or aliases) of the selected region. Simple way to repeat sections of audio, or MIDI events

You can repeat one or more selected regions in the Tracks area. Repeating a region pastes one or more copies (or aliases) of the regions following (to the right of) the regions in the same track.

  Nudge Region/Event Position Right by Beat

Move the currently selected region(s) to the right by one beat.

You can nudge regions (move them in small increments) left or right using key commands. To nudge regions, you first set the nudge value, then move selected regions by this value. Alternatively, you can nudge regions by a set value.

  Event Channel -1

Decrement the channel number of the selected events.

This is a quick way of changing the (potential) instrument for a given MIDI event. Valuable when working with multi-channel software instruments or external devices.

In cases where the division between voices needs to be more flexible, you can separate voices by assigning each voice to a different MIDI channel. This allows voices to cross while still being displayed independently. Notes not assigned to any MIDI channel are not displayed, allowing you to “hide” notes from display (such as improvised parts or trill notes, for example). This does not affect playback, but only the display of notes in the score (the playback channel is determined by the setting in the Track inspector).

  Close Track Stack    ⌃⌘←

Closes the currently selected track stack. I use summing track stacks to work with “stems”, and to help organize the tracks. When I want to work on a stack I simple select the stack and switch the mixer view to ‘Single’. This places the AUX, all the channels that route to the AUX, and the output path from the AUX (mix, sends, stereo out). Very handy.

Folder stacks (VCA groups) provide a simple visual way to control volume, solo, and mute for the group.

Summing stacks work like sub-mixes with inserts and sends.

You can hide the subtracks of a Track Stack to save space in the Tracks area, or show them in order to record or edit. You can add or remove tracks from a Track Stack, and reorder tracks in a Track Stack (reordering tracks doesn’t affect the sound).
