  Show/Hide Audio Device Controls

Some audio interfaces make it possible for Logic to control the audio input devices (e.g. Apogee). Available controls appear at the top of the channel strip. This is a very useful tool that allows far better control of your audio devices from Logic as opposed to finding the knobs and buttons on the physical interface.

For the longest time Audio Device Controls were displayed for all audio channels, even if the interface did not provide them. Finally that error has been corrected. You only see device controls if the device can actually be controlled.

Interesting. On my 2019 iMac the built-in microphone defaults to -6 on the display which apparently is panned -6 on a stereo field.

  Select Members of Group 39

Select all channels that are members of group 39. This is not possible. There are only 32 groups.

Prior to mixing, you may find it useful to define some logical channel strip groups. You could, for example, group all drum channel strips under one drum group. This would allow you to control the group meters (volume, pan, mute, solo, sends, and so on) using a single control, while still maintaining the relative parameter values of each channel strip.

  Select Lowest Notes    ⇧↓

Select the lowest notes in each chord. From here the notes can be assigned to a different MIDI channel, instrument, etc.

Choose Edit > Select > Lowest Notes to select the lowest notes in the chords.

These commands can be used with regions containing chords to separate the top note of each chord (often the melody), or to separate the bottom note of each chord for a bass line. Once selected, the notes can be cut or copied, and pasted into a region on a different track.

Note: Highest Notes and Lowest Notes only select the notes. They can be used in conjunction with other editing commands, such as Cut, to move a voice into another MIDI region.

The Global Edit Mode is the mode that is indicated in a collapsed Step Sequencer row. Each of the parameters is available as a subrow, but the Global Edit Mode puts the parameters in easy reach.
